Anne Grimdalen lodge offers San Francisco's South Bay/San Jose Area a place to enjoy Nordic heritage. Sharing Scandinavian heritage through interesting programs and interest groups is what they do best. Coffee and social time begins at 9:30am followed by a brief meeting and program. This lodge has had a writers group for over 12 years (since 1997) which yielded four published books and numerous smaller stories captured for future generations.

A few of their programs from the last year include Nordic:

  • Crafts
  • Travel Programs
  • Nordic Life Stories
  • Cultural Events & Celebrations
  • Henning Carved Wooden Figures
  • Presentations on art, society, folklore, history, genealogy, Norway's Summer Solitice traditions, etc.
  • Local outings (such as as the Norwegian Seaman's Church, Norway Days, Norway Days & other San Francisco Bay Area venues)

Anne Grimdalen Lodge welcomes all interested parties to join them at one of their meetings.

Regarding two upcoming meetings: the November 13th the program Cookies includes a Krumkake demostration and the sharing of other Norwegian recipes. The Dec. 11th Christmas Potluck features Norwegian holiday food and an auction of Christmas baskets.

LODGE'S NAME

The lodge lodge was named for a noted sculptress, who was born in 1899 in the Telemark region of Norway. Anne Grimdalen studied art in Oslo, and in 1931, her statue Girl on a Horse was bought by the Norwegian National Gallery. She later won a national competition, and three of her pieces were selected to decorate the newly built City Hall in Oslo. She created large pieces of sculptor based not only on historic themes, but also on nature and common people. More . . .

  1. 1 Lodge does not hold meetings in July and August. Meeting room at Sunny View varies so contact lodge for details. Remember social/coffee time begins at 9:30am.
